WHAT’S HAPPENING WEDNESDAYS Pat Mitchell and Standard Time now in it’s 16th year at the Steak Loft in Mystic features jazz chanteuse Pat Mitchell on vocals, Kent Hewitt- piano, Bob Kolb- sax, clarinet, flute, Marshall Wood or Todd Baker- bass, Jim Gwinn, Artie Cabral or Jim Oblon -drums. Music from the Great American Songbook with Pat’s unique arrangements and some of New England’s finest players are highlighted in one of the longest running steady engagements in the area. THURSDAYS Kent Hewitt performs at the Blue Crab Steakhouse in Old Saybrook. Kent Hewitt plays the baby grand piano and sings favorites from Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Jule Styne, Johnny Mercer, George Gershwin, and Richard Rodgers in the styles of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and Mel Torme. The Blue Crab has a dining room and lounge with an eclectic menu of steaks, prime rib, seafood, salads, hamburgers, and great appetizers. Also featured is a late-night menu until 12 midnight. SUNDAYS Johnny and the East Coast Rockers swing and rock the Griswold Inn in Essex every Sunday with Johnny’s own brand of blues and swing. The group features Johnny on guitar and vocals, Kent Hewitt-piano, Jim Tutunjian –bass, and Bob Burt-drums. “The Gris” is famous for New England fare and nautical décor and features top local groups every night. Dancing is always welcomed and Sunday is one of the most popular nights with The East Coast Rockers having a regular following of dedicated followers.
